The Council of Europe has published a compendium of good practices and procedures to reduce and prevent coercion in mental health facilities. Two facilities are listed for Germany; the Bochum Crisis Room and the Weglaufhaus.
Of the procedures and practices included, the Council of Europe writes, “(they) may be directly aimed at reducing, preventing or even eliminating coercive practices in mental health facilities, and others will indirectly lead to similar results by advancing the overall goal of promoting voluntary mental health care and support.
The compendium is not intended to be an exhaustive list of leading practices in COE member states. Rather, it is intended to be a first step in compiling practices to promote voluntary mental health care and support and to reduce and prevent coercion in mental health settings.”
